FOR-A TO INTRODUCE REAL-TIME NOISE ERASER AT NAB 2008

DNE-2 Incorporates Motion Compensation Technology; Removes Both Grain and Dust Noise

CYPRESS, CA, February 1, 2008 – FOR-A Corporation of America, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, will introduce the DNE-2, a real-time video noise eraser, at NAB 2008 in Las Vegas from April 14-17, 2008 (Booth #SU5220).

The DNE-2 Noise Eraser incorporates the best of FOR-A's image processing technology. Image processing with motion compensation technology is used to remove only the noise-filled signals, without harming the quality of the original video.

The DNE-2 Noise Eraser uses "motion compensation" technology, which is also the core technology in FOR-A’s FRC-7000 Frame Rate Converter, to maintain a high level of accuracy in the replacement information. In noise removal, information within a video is deleted and replaced with different information. In many noise reducers, the replacement information is less accurate, leading to blurred contours and details in the image.

“We named the DNE-2 a ‘Noise Eraser’ instead of a ‘Noise Reducer’ because we wanted to create a product that would accurately remove noise only, using FOR-A's image processing technology,” said Hiro Tanoue, FOR-A Deputy General Manager, Overseas Operations. “It marks a significant break from competitive products. The ‘2’ in the ‘DNE-2’ model name represents the two filter functions that are used in the product -- one to remove grain noise and one to remove dust noise.”

DNE-2 Main Features
The DNE-2 removes grain and dust noise from video that’s been converted from film to video. It supports HD-SDI input and output and the following formats: 1080/59.94i, 1080/50i, 1080/24p, 1080/24psf, 1080/23.98p, 1080/23.98psf, 720/59.94p and 720/50p.

With 1080i format materials, progressive conversion inside the DNE-2 occurs with video converted via pulldown, enabling noise removal with an appropriate frame rate.

In addition to noise removal for telecine video, the DNE-2 can also be used for improving S/N level, removing noise caused during image compression and as a preprocessor for producing package media such as DVDs.

The DNE-2 also has many image processing functions, including: process control, color correction, detail enhancer and audio delay.
