SD & HD Production Switchers The Vision line of production switchers continues to expand with the announcement we are now shipping the Vision 1M, 2M, and 2X control panels. The M control panels have 24 crosspoint buttons and the X control panel has 32 – a huge number for a 2 ME panel. These new panels extend the line of Vision panels already including the Vision 1, 2, 3, and 4.

The configurability of these switchers is also extended with the ability to connect any of the seven control panels to either the 3RU chassis or the 8RU chassis and then populating any number of MEs. Also new is an LCD monitor module for the Vision series, optionally providing live video or teleprompter text on the control panel itself.

Vision is now shipping with a full complement of device control capability including serial or Ethernet control of VTRs, Video Servers, Audio Servers, Audio Mixers, Robotic Cameras, Character Generators, UMDs, Monitor Walls, and more! A full connection of a Vision switcher to newsroom control systems is also possible with the Ross OverDrive Automated Production Control System.

Further significant Vision enhancements will be announced at NAB 2008.
OverDrive® Automated Production Control System
Ross Video will be releasing version 7.0 of the market-leading OverDrive Automated Production Control System, which includes applications for News, Sports, Worship and Live Event productions. This latest release increases the power and flexibility of the OverDrive system by adding MOS integration for graphic and video server systems, an enhanced Client / Server architecture, and the introduction of sideCar, a compact remote control panel. Additional new features include multiple user-programmable timers, Preview Custom Controls and the ability to enable or disable remote control of mixers or robotic cameras on-the-fly.

SoftMetal Video Servers
SoftMetal is a line of Multi-Definition Video Servers designed for both production and master control applications. SoftMetal debuts version 2.0 software at NAB 2008 with many new features and enhancements Including two new applications: Media Manager which allows advanced viewing and sorting of clips and Transcode Manager for transcoding between file formats. Apple Final Cut Pro, QuickTime Animation and Avid workflow support is also provided in SoftMetal version 2.0.

openGear Multi-Definition Terminal Equipment
openGear continues to expand with more than 14 partners, with over 60 core processing solutions for audio, video, and data, and industry recognition with four prestigious awards.

New for 2008 is the addition of a new 2RU 20-slot rackframe designed for high- density conversion and distribution applications.

The DashBoard Control Systems controls and monitors all processing cards and frames and has expanded with the addition of DB-VIEW allowing customers to logically create customized views of signal paths.

openGear, the platform of choice, offers a variety of frames, solutions, and vendors all without having to compromise on a control infrastructure.

Ross Video continues to expand openGear product offerings with the addition of a modular multi-definition switch, an Up / Down / Cross Converter with letter / pillar insertion and a down converter with distribution. Also new is the addition of a suite of audio modules and a multi-definition audio mux, demux, AES audio switch, conversion products and a new analog to digital converter and a compliment of high processing applications including a multi-definition keyer.
