Shotoku Broadcast Systems’ Heads to NAB 2008 with Extended Virtual Studio Camera Support Systems and Lightweight Manual Tripods and Pan/Tilt Heads

Torrance, CA (February 21, 2008) – Shotoku Broadcast Systems is heading for NAB 2008 with an extended line of manual camera support equipment. NAB 2008 will set the scene for the official US debut of numerous lightweight products, including a virtual reality head and fully-featured studio pedestal. Shotoku will also demonstrate its new SH lightweight DV and ENG tripods and pan /tilt units in Booth C7515.

VR Range Expansion
Shotoku’s Virtual Studio camera support range, the most comprehensive available in today’s marketplace, will grow even larger with the addition of the SH120VR lightweight head and TP-90VR fully-featured studio pedestal. The TP90, aimed at mid-range payloads for camera, lens and prompter configurations of up to132lbs (60Kgs), provides exceptional manual performance that has not been compromised by the addition of the VR sensing systems. The precise mechanical coupling of sensors and equipment ensures very high levels of accuracy and data consistency. As with all Shotoku VR sensing systems the data protocol is compatible with all major VR system providers making Shotoku the obvious choice for any virtual studio application.

Shotoku’s VR line includes numerous products ranging from small lightweight SH pan and tilt heads, through to full-scale pedestals and cranes.

Full Shotoku VR Range

  • SH120VR – lightweight manual VR head
  • TP-64/66/80/90VR – VR Studio pedestals
  • TU-03/TE-12/TE23 – VR Studio pan and tilt heads
  • TK-59 - 2.4m VR Jib Crane
  • TK-38/57/63 – Up to 4.6m specialized VR cranes
  • TG-17/27/18/19VR - Robotic VR pan and tilt heads
  • TI-11/12VR - Robotic VR height drives
  • Lens Encoders – For all ENG VR lenses

All VR products integrate with Shotoku Serial Position Interface (SPI) for a convenient single cable connection to the VR system and a centralized configuration and monitoring point. Sensor set-up and calibration is extremely simple and can be completed in minimal time. Once configured, no further intervention or external control device is required.

New Range of Lightweight Manual Tripods and Pan and Tilt Heads
Shotoku is also extending its widely-received manual pedestal and tripod line with the launch of the SH range of lightweight DV and ENG camera support products. Constructed with high rigidity aluminum, the 1, 2 and 3 stage tripods support payloads from 0 to 55lbs. (25Kg). Smooth, perfectly balanced, fluid damped pan and tilt heads for the ENG range make the perfect combination for broadcast quality use. The systems’ ability to rig and de-rig easily make rapid deployment in demanding situations uncomplicated, and because they weigh as little as 6 lbs. (2.9Kg), the ENG tripods are extremely easy to transport.

A full range of accessories are available including pan bars, carry cases, dollies and spreaders.
