System Allows Users to Connect to their Remote Intercom Matrix via the PC EMERYVILLE, California – September 8, 2006 – Clear-Com, a Vitec Group brand and the global leader of trusted intercom solutions, today announced the availability of SoftVoICE 1.0. SoftVoICE is a virtual intercom panel that enables Clear-Com Eclipse users to connect to a remote intercom matrix through standard Windows XP-based personal computers.
Connecting remote personnel with fixed sites poses many technological and logistical challenges to studios and switching centers. The quality of connection, reliability of the network and development of the overall communications backbone are often too complicated to set-up and difficult to maintain.
Clear-Com’s SoftVoICE is a virtual intercom panel that provides a simple, low-cost VoIP-based communications infrastructure that enables PC users to connect with remote personnel through their XP-based PC’s. As the PC connects via the Internet or an IP network to a VoICE interface at the remote matrix, the VoICE interface makes the SOFT-VoICE PC appear as a conventional intercom panel to the matrix, which provides all call signaling, audio and label information on the panel. Furthermore,,SoftVoICE can be integrated into an existing station intercom system to deliver broadcast-quality audio over legacy networks.
“SoftVoICE offers professionals a more efficient and lower cost entry into a station intercom system without sacrificing functionality,” said Simon Browne, Clear-Com’s product manager for SoftVoICE. “This is a simple and robust platform that delivers crystal-clear communications between a PC and the Clear-Com matrix backbone, even when used in conjunction with Pocket PC PDAs.”
SoftVoICE 1.0 for Windows XP will be available in October 2006. Pricing varies according to customer specification.
Clear-Com will be demonstrating the Eclipse, FreeSpeak and SoftVoICE wireless intercom product suites at IBC2006 on booth #521, hall 11 from September 7th - 12th. IBC is the world’s most prominent event for people involved in the creation, management and delivery of content for the entertainment industry.
