— Acer, On2 and Optibase to demonstrate products equipped with Equator’s MAP-CAä digital signal processors and the StingRayä development board—

ATLANTA (SUPERCOMM, Georgia World Congress Center, Booth # 8729) – June 4, 2001 – Equator Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of comprehensive, broadband digital communications and media processing engines and systems, today announced that it will demonstrate an expanded product offering at SUPERCOMM 2001. Equator will unveil Dolphin—a fully production-worthy, software-based, reference design platform that subsumes the many functions of multiple boxes in a single, integrated media terminal (for more information see, “Equator Technologies Launches Reference Design Platform for Interactive Broadband Media Appliances and Video Services Set-Top Boxes,” June 4, 2001). In addition, Equator will exhibit commercial, collaborative, digital communication solutions from On2, Acer and Optibase, demonstrating increased market segment penetration and a growing customer base.

“We are very pleased to showcase Equator’s full spectrum of products, which includes our Broadband Signal Processor (BSP) engine, our new powerful StingRay development board and the new Dolphin reference design platform at this year’s SUPERCOMM,” said Dr. Avi Katz, president and CEO, Equator Technologies. “Our flexible broadband digital communications and media processing platform is designed to provide a fully integrated, cost-effective, hardware and software solution for our customers to support their business needs and accelerate revenue streams and growth. Equator currently has more than 120 customers, making the company an industry leader in a new era of interactive, streaming, broadband consumer electronic appliances.”

SUPERCOMM is the global marketplace for communications technologies, systems, and ideas, hosting nearly 800 exhibitors and over 200 educational sessions. The conference, which is produced by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and the United States Telecom Association (USTA), last year drew over 53,000 attendees.

Acer Demonstration (Equator booth #8729)
Equator and Acer will demonstrate the first programmable MAP-CA Broadband Digital Processorä (BSPä) DSP running in a DMS (Acer subsidiary) enhanced streaming media set-top box, using Enreach’s video server. The demonstration will show how Equator’s technology can be used today to transform a set-top box into a multi-purpose video service solution.

On2 Demonstration (Equator booth #8729)
On2.com Inc., a leading broadband technology and services company specializing in providing the highest-quality streaming video at the lowest possible data rates, will demonstrate their VP4 codec on Equator's MAP-CA BSP digital signal processor. On2.com will also demonstrate, with the use of Equator’s StingRay development board, H.263 encode for Picture-in-Picture and MPEG-4 Encode. Targeted to the digital set-top box market, the use of Equator's MAP-CA BSP digital signal processor offers a platform of choice to process a unique set of intellectual properties, achieving unprecedented video quality at a low bit rate.

Optibase Demonstration (Optibase booth #8293)
Optibase, a leading provider of media gateway solutions that bridge the gap between the digital broadcasting domain and IP broadband networks, will demonstrate, MGW – a family of plug-and-play, rack-mounted, multi-channel streaming servers that are capable of encoding and transmitting live and pre-recorded streams simultaneously. Using the software programmable MAP-CA digital signal processor, Optibase’s servers provide the flexibility needed to allow operators and service providers to employ different modules for accommodating various formats and changing application needs.

About Equator’s MAP-CA BSP Digital Signal Processor
The MAP-CA BSP digital signal processor delivers 30 GOPs (Billion Operations per Second) of processing power, offering more than ten times the performance of other available solutions. The highly integrated, system-on-a-chip solution delivers core functions through software rather than dedicated hardware and is designed for high-performance, video-intense, broadband applications. By using software downloads to update the functionality of products, even after they are launched and in the field, the life cycle of the equipment can be greatly extended, enabling companies to decrease their time-to-market and their time-to-revenue with new broadband services and devices. The programmable chip allows service providers to offer more services and more functionality, such as time shifting, broadcast media security, video security, VOD, DVD playback and per viewer advertising.
