Sounds Great! / SG Integration, a full service design/build contractor specializing in sound and video systems, configured an expandable and flexible routing matrix for the Church capable of supporting an ambitious HD video display, transmission, studio and post-production system. "Pinnacle Hills is now on the cutting-edge of video and electronic media technology and this is one system that is as close to 'state-of-the-art' as a system can get," said Tony Bishop, General Manager/Senior Designer of SG Integration. “We used the Network Electronics’ equipment in the Hammonds Field installation in Springfield and were very pleased and impressed. The quality was excellent and the interface was very good, so I didn’t even think twice when I started looking at my routing equipment – Network Electronics fit right in.”
The heart of the Network Electronics system is an expandable VikinX HD3232M, an HD-SDI matrix router, capable of growing with Pinnacle's planned development. Network Electronics' companion AD64x64-110 AES/EBU digital audio matrix was also selected to easily facilitate expansion. Two Network Electronics CP-16LC, programmable control panels were installed in the control room at the director’s position. Network Electronics' Premium THOR software in conjunction with a dedicated media LAN allows PC-to-PC access and control to route signals from anywhere to anywhere in the complex equipped with a network port.
The need for extensive, advanced HD video distribution was an outgrowth of the Springdale First Baptist Church in Springdale, Arkansas, a large congregation located about 20 miles from The Church at Pinnacle Hills. Under the leadership of Ronnie Floyd, Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Springdale, the church's membership has grown to over 15,000 and led to the building of the new Pinnacle Hills facility as a "missionary church." Ronnie Floyd, the dynamic pastor, teacher, author and blogger also hosts a popular television, radio and Internet program aired daily nationwide and around the world. Because Pinnacle Hills is now a full-blown HD production facility with outstanding lighting and sound systems, the "Ronnie Floyd: Winners" program as well as other Christian programming will be produced there.
From a sophisticated control room, Network Electronics’ HD digital routing configuration supports HD-SDI video and digital audio signals throughout the complex, and simulcasts live and pre-produced programming via fiber links to both churches. Live video acquired with seven Ikegami HD cameras is distributed to two Barco 16x9 foot ILite 6mm LED displays in the Sanctuary. Five cameras record to isolated Sony XDCAM HD digital disc recorders while another records a mixed feed. In the Sanctuary, two remotely controlled Ikegami HD cameras provide IMAG and record options. Two Ross Switchers mix HD and SD video content for image magnifications and real-time Internet streaming. Recorded video is used in postproduction for the "Ronnie Floyd: Winners” program, which is widely distributed over satellite networks.
In addition to the Network Electronics’ routing equipment, Sounds Great installed the Company’s DA's and a V16x2 composite switcher to drive the vectorscope and waveform monitor. “We also used their P16GPI-CP control panels to operate the switcher,” added Bishop. “There's so much that Network Electronics’ equipment achieves, and it does exactly what I want."
