SCRI was co-founded by Research Director Desmond Chaskelson in 1984. Chaskelson has been in the research business since the early 1970’s where he spent several years with the UK's BIS Research Limited, setting up multi-client industry research studies in South Africa. In the mid 1970's Chaskelson moved to the USA where he spent a number of years at Burson Marsteller Research Division in New York City as research manager working on several pro video accounts including: Sony, JVC, Hitachi, Kodak & Phillips.
In 1984, Chaskelson co-founded SCRI International, specializing in multi-client syndicated research studies in the broadcast and professional video sectors, starting with the Broadcast Pro Video Marketplace (B/PVM) published in 1984, and still being updated annually. Since then SCRI has gone on to become the premier supplier of broadcast / pro video syndicated market research reports. Chaskelson holds Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees and is a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA), the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and an Associate Member of National Association of Broadcasters (NAB).
