
Benjamin Garmezy, MD
Associate Director, Genitourinary Cancer Research, SCRI
Dr. Garmezy joined SCRI in 2021 and serves as associate director of Genitourinary Cancer Research. In his role, Dr. Garmezy oversees the Genitourinary Cancer Research strategy by reviewing and adjudicating clinical trial opportunities, building a comprehensive trial portfolio, guiding program growth and performance, and representing SCRI in strategic scientific and partner engagements.
He has authored or coauthored publications in journals such as Nature Medicine, The Lancet, and JCO Precision Oncology, and is an active member of professional organizations including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Urological Association, and American Association for Cancer Research. Dr. Garmezy has also presented research at national and international scientific meetings, including ASCO, ASCO Genitourinary Cancers Symposium, and ESMO.
Dr. Garmezy received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Prior to joining SCRI, he completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan and his fellowship in hematology/oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Garmezy is board certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine. He currently serves as a medical oncologist at SCRI Oncology Partners.
